Yuka Doutou - item #2
Contemporary Silkscreen
A fabulous print by Yuka Doutou: Item #2. Playful creatures, boxes, and everyday objects scatter across the paper; faces, cats, and tiny items emerge and vanish within Doutou’s field of sketchbook & imagination. The silkscreen bursts into a crowd of miniature stories and animated figures. Doutou’s silkscreen layering transforms notebook sketches into a shifting tapestry of items, toys, and characters that come alive with every glance. ✨🐾

About the Artist
道藤由加 Yuka Doutou (b. 1983, Hyōgo) builds exuberant silkscreen prints that shift with every glance. From afar, her candy-bright surfaces appear carefree and textile-like; up close, they burst into crowds of animated characters - playful, chaotic, and full of mischief. Balancing light-hearted colour with an undertone of unease, Doutou captures what she calls “Carefree Moment, Bad Premonition” (呑気な時間、嫌な予感). Winner of the Jury Prize at the Tokyo International Mini-Print Triennial, Doutou's contemporary works are a marvel to behold. [ ← View All Works by Yuka Doutou]
