A fabulously striking print by Haruo Inaba: Mental Graph P5 BY9. A vivid yellow grid surrounds broad fields of magenta and pale gold, punctuated by blue, orange, violet & silver-grey forms. Repeated white circles run across a strong black band, creating a crisp and carefully balanced geometric composition. 🟨🟣

  • Notes: Part of Haruo Inaba’s Mental Graph series, in which repeated grids, circles and squares are arranged through bold areas of colour. Inaba was a Japanese abstract artist and longtime professor at Tokyo Zokei University, later becoming Professor Emeritus.


About the Artist

Haruo Inaba (1931-2010) was a Japanese abstract artist and educator from Numazu, Shizuoka. A graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts, he became known for his Graph and Mental Graph works, combining precise grids, repeated geometric forms and vivid colour. Inaba taught at Tokyo Zokei University for many years, later becoming Professor Emeritus, and was warmly remembered by the generations of students he taught. His work is held in Japanese public collections, including the Miyagi Museum of Art.
