Go Yayanagi’s 1982 silkscreen 星 (Stars) conjures a cosmic tableau: a meticulously rendered star-chart grid fills the lower field, while a vivid target-disc & snail-like forms crown the composition. Above, a fun abstract comet-creature streaks past a yellow moon, its trailing form against a deep night sky. The composition fuses astronomical mapping, mythic imagery and Pop-Uki dynamism into a glittering nocturnal fable. 🌠🔭✨

- Series: The Flying Pencils (飛んだえんぴつ): Published in 1982, Yayanagi created a collection of eight prints entitled Les Crayons Qui Volent/“The Flying Pencil” (edition of 95). The series was produced in line with a Poetry Art Book (詩画集) published by Children’s Poetry Magazine, Silo Association (サイロの会編). Eight poems written by elementary school pupils across Hokkaido’s Tokachi region were selected to accompany each of Yayanagi’s designs within the series. An additional sixty-two poems accompany the poetry book. A lovely, succinct assembly of design themes central to Yayanagi’s oeuvre, and a fabulous example of his close hometown relationship and active engagement with local community art projects.
