Fumio Kitaoka - 水辺の家 (Waterfront House)

Sale price£300.00

Modern | Sōsaku Hanga Woodblock Print

Fumio Kitaoka’s 1983 woodblock shows a white-washed riverside house on a golden stone quay, where a woman washes clothes at the water’s edge, geese drift by, and a boatman readies his vessel. A striking piece. 🚤🦆

    • Year & Edition: 1983 · Ed. of 120 (39/120) (signed, titled & dated in pencil).
    • Medium: Woodblock.
    • Dimensions: Sheet W: 64.00 cm × H: 48.00 cm; Image W: 55.00 cm × H: 39.50 cm.
    • Condition: Excellent; vibrant, unblemished colours; very faint mounting line and minor tape residue on verso; paper crisp & intact.
    • Notes: This print captures a moment of everyday riverside life: bamboo blinds and stacked timber line the quay, while the boatman adjusts his canopy and pole for the next journey. The strong contrast between the white walls, dark roof tiles and yellow quay stones underscores Kitaoka’s precise carving and block printing. “Fumio Kitaoka” watermark to margin.
