Fumio Kitaoka - 四国の山 (瓶ヶ森) (Mountains of Shikoku (Kamegamori))

Sale price£340.00

Modern | Sōsaku Hanga Woodblock Print

Fumio Kitaoka’s 1978 woodblock print presents 瓶ヶ森 (Kamegamori) - its jagged ridgeline emerging from a billowing sea of clouds, rock faces and stunted pines rendered in crisp colours. An incredible print. 🏔️☁️

    • Year & Edition: 1978 · Artist Proof (signed, titled & dated in pencil).
    • Medium: Woodblock.
    • Dimensions: Sheet approx. H: 48.50 cm × W: 63.25 cm; Image H: 39.50 cm × W: 54.75 cm.

    • Notes: Kamegamori (瓶ヶ森), part of the 石鎚山系 (Ishizuchi Mountain Range) in 愛媛県 (Ehime Prefecture), is celebrated for its sheer cliffs and the mist-filled valleys that cloak its slopes. Although not one of the 四国八十八ヶ所巡礼 (Shikoku 88-Temple Pilgrimage) sites founded by 弘法大師 (Kūkai), it holds deep spiritual resonance and stands as a testament to Shikoku’s rugged natural and cultural landscape.
